Vega de San Mateo is a municipality on the Canary Island of Gran Canaria. It is located southwest of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The neighboring municipalities are Valleseco and Teror to the north, Santa Brígida and Valsequillo to the east, San Bartolomé de Tirajana to the south, and Tejeda to the west.

The capital of the municipality, also called Vega de San Mateo, is located almost in the center of the island at an altitude of about 800 meters. The charming town with its small but picturesque old town offers everything residents need for their daily needs. From schools and a health center to sports fields and event areas, as well as various shops and some restaurants and a weekly farmers market known throughout the region.
